These are the 10 happiest countries in the world

For the second consecutive year, Finland is the happiest country in the world, followed a short distance from Denmark and Switzerland, in second and third position, respectively, according to the latest edition of the Annual Happiness Report prepared by a multidisciplinary research body linked to the UN.

10) Austria

Its beautiful landscapes tinged with green or white (depending on the season) are just one of the many attractions in Austria.

And its towns and cities are not far behind either: the artistic Salzburg, Bad Gastein (the spa town of Sissi, Freud, and Einstein), the beautiful town of Hallstatt or Vienna, which this year celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of the Beethoven!

9) Luxembourg

Small in area and large in appeal, Luxembourg is that unknown treasure that holds many secrets to discover.

In addition, this year it is planned to adopt a new measure of the most fascinating: that trains, trams, and buses were free for everyone.

8) New Zealand

New Zealand is undoubtedly the road trip of your life, but it is also the eighth happiest country in the world, and the least corrupt (a position it shares with Denmark)

Land of adventurers and nature lovers, New Zealand has authentic gems such as Tongariro National Park, Cathedral Cove, Matamata (the world of hobbits), the beach of the 'giant eggs' and a wild cocktail of geysers, lakes, whales, and fjords.

7) Sweden

The secret of Swedish happiness has a name: Lagom, whose recipe is collected by Lola A. Åkerström in her book Lagom, the Swedish secret of the good life.

What does it consist of? This Swedish saying sums it up: "Not too little or too much: in its proper measure." That is, "what lagom aspires to in its deepest essence is to guarantee that we compensate our needs in a way that constitutes an invitation to peace and fulfillment, beyond what we want in life," she writes, for her part Åkerström

"What lagom asks me to do is to be more aware of my emotions, body, and well-being," she concludes.

Nor should we forget the three Swedish customs for eating and being happy without guilt (lördagsgodis, fredagsmys, and fika).

In short, there are many possibilities for you to travel to Sweden and you want to stay and live there!

6) Netherlands

From the ever-exciting Amsterdam to the Utrech culture, to the world's most beautiful bookshop in Maastricht, Leiden (the birthplace of Rembrandt) and Keukenhof, the 'Garden of Europe', the Netherlands is always a good idea!

5) Norway

In addition to its high degrees of happiness, Norway can boast of many things such as: the Nordic diet, or being an example of sustainability.

4) Iceland

Iceland is the fourth happiest country in the world, but its list of titles does not end here. It is also the safest country in the world (according to the 2019 Global Peace Index) and the second most democratic country (according to The Economist's 2019 Democracy Index), and why not say it, one of our favorite countries!

3) Switzerland

Watches, chocolates, banking, razors, cheese, and happiness! Switzerland is the third happiest country in the world in 2020.

Also, the Swiss country has been without any armed conflict since 1815, and each citizen is called to the polls an average of four times a year; in fact, it occupies the number ten position in the ranking of the most democratic countries in the world.

2) Denmark

Denmark is the second happiest country in the world, but it is also, along with New Zealand, the country with the least corrupt public sector in the world.

1) Finland

According to the World Happiness Report, Finland wins the title of the happiest country in the world for the third consecutive year.

It will be for its nature, for its gastronomy, for its fascinating capital, saunas, and forest baths and also for its social policies, such as the famous box for babies and its curious customs, such as drinking in underwear.
